Why buy a kindle? I’ve now owned a kindle since April 2011, so i’m still a new owner. My whole family are a voracious bunch of readers, Mom and Dad loving their thrillers, my elder sister always has her nose in a crime procedure book and my younger sister consumes Danielle Steel and Mills and Boons books by the dozen. (yuck!) My bookshelves are mostly heaving with non-fiction business and biographies.
Last year my elder sister was given a Sony E-reader for her birthday and six months later my other sister followed suit and also purchased one. My first impressions of the Sony E-reader were not good, it was ugly, clunky, heavy and looked very old fashioned. However both sisters were enamored. They not only took the E-readers on holiday and away travelling but very quickly they started to replace traditional books with reading on E-reader permanently. Why did they enjoy the E-reader so much?
Key reasons were as follows:
It’s convenient, all of your books can be kept in one place
You don’t need to turn pages
You can read it at night without disturbing your partner
It’s lightweight and perfect for travelling, you can take all your books and magazines with you and it doesn’t weigh very much
The books are cheaper
All good reasons but I still wasn’t convinced, then a change occurred in my house and my thinking started to change too. What happened? I bought an iPad.
Not only was the iPad a beautiful device to surf the web on and play apps, it was also fun to read books on. The ibooks app allowed you to read a purchased e-book and turn pages by touch. It looked beautiful but the range of books offered in the book store was very limited, that’s when i found the kindle app.
